CRITERIA OF CEPHALOPELVIC DISPROPORTION(C.P.D.)

Abstract
In this article, X-ray pelvimetry, roentgencephalometry and a clinical assessment of cephalopelvic disproportion are discussed in the light of many authors¢¥ contributions. The criteria of cephalopelvic disproportion is one of the most pressing problems in Obstetrics and many articles have been published about it at home and abroad. It remains, however, as a complicated, ever puzzling subject for Obstetricians, especially for our young colleagues because the status of labor is constantly changing. Many factors such as the size and type of the pelvis, the size, position and attitude of the fetus, and the power of labor, as Obstetricians point out in their textbooks, are involved. It is especially delicate to manage the labor in cases of so-called borderline groups, many of which could be managed wisely by means of "trial of labor" utilizing all available knowledge, information and the tools of mordern science. In connection with this, it is needless to mention the importance of X-ray pelvimetry, but it should not be taken as the routine procedure. It is equally clear that when indicated in order to reduce the possibility of jeopardizing the mother or infant from a host of Obstetric complications, it should be employed without delay, but only after taking all necessary modern safety precautions.
